Wake Xu, Head Coach

Coach Wake started fencing at the age of 13 and was a member of the Chinese National Men's Epee team.  Coach Wake was also the head coach for the Chinese Junior and Cadet National Epee Teams (men's and women's).  Under his tutelage, the Chinese Cadet Men's Epee team won the Asian Championship in men's team event in 2019, in addition to numerous international individual and team titles.  Coach Wake brings decades of experience of developing youth fencers into international champions.  

Wendy Dai

Youth, Strength & Conditioning Coach

Coach Wendy started her athletic career in competitive Judo and Taekwondo.  She was a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Taekwondo Team in China, after which she worked as the head coach for Suzhou Taekwondo Team for 12 years.  Her students have won numerous Taekwondo championships in China.  She also won the silver medal in women's epee at the China National Club Championships in 2016.    

Sean Yao, Epee Coach

Coach Sean is a Prevot Coach for Epee, certified by US Fencing Coaches Association.  He is an A-rated competitive fencer and was a bronze medalist at the 2022 Pan American Youth and Veteran Championships.  He was also a member of Team USA for modern pentathlon and competed in the 2018 World Cup.  Coach Sean has a JD and PhD in Electrical Engineering, both from UC Davis, and is a patent attorney.
